Ginseng belongs to herbaceous plants and is suitable for growing in Northeast China. So how to grow ginseng herbs in Northeast China?

Planting method of ginseng herbs in Northeast China

1. Soil Selection

The requirement of ginseng herbs on soil is rich humus, deep soil, loose texture, strong water permeability and good drainage. Forest humus soil is the best, neutral or slightly acidic soil is better, but alkaline soil is not suitable for planting. Remember not to use soil that has been planted by farmers or vegetables!

2. Water control

Ginseng herbs have strict water requirement. It is important to remember that when watering, the leaves or buds of ginseng herbs should not be stained with water. If watered, the leaves are easy to wilt or rot. Generally, when watering, you don't need to pour through, just wet it with a sprinkler. Ginseng herbs are both water-loving and waterlogged. Excessive moisture, when the soil moisture exceeds 50%, will cause insufficient air in the soil, so that the root respiration of ginseng is affected, susceptible to diseases and rotten roots. When the soil moisture is less than 30%, the root water diffuses, and the fibrous roots of ginseng and herbaceous plants wither, resulting in a decrease in yield. It is easy to keep soil moisture at 40%-50% in summer, 40%-50% in autumn and 40%-50% in spring and 40%-50% in whole year.

3. Illumination Conditions

Ginseng herbs are shade-loving plants, like scattering weak light, afraid of direct sunlight. Excessive light, short plants, thick and yellow leaves. Illumination is too weak, the plant is thin and tall, the leaves are thin and dark green, and the growth is normal. Therefore, in the cultivation of ginseng herbs in Changbai Mountains, shading should be carried out to adjust the transmittance, avoid direct light, and use scattering light and refraction light.

4. Suitable temperature

Ginseng herbs are resistant to high temperature and cold. During the growth and development period, the optimum temperature is 15 - 30 C. When the temperature is higher than 30 C or lower than 10 C, the ginseng herbs are dormant. Winter can also be safely overwintered in the severe cold at - 40 C. Renewal buds of ginseng herbs can germinate and grow in spring when the ground temperature is above 12%. However, they are most afraid of the "slow-freezing" in early spring (i.e. the phenomenon of temperature rising or falling, surface freezing and thawing), which can easily lead to freezing injury and root bark damage ("broken stomach"). After sowing, the seedling emergence temperature should be above 10 C, the 1-2-year-old requirement should be above 12 C, and the suitable temperature for growing period should be 20-30 C. Under the hot sunshine above 36 C, the leaves will be scorched and the stem will lose its growth function when the temperature is below - 6 C.

5. Fertilizer requirements

Ginseng herbs like fertilizer. Ginseng grows rapidly after fertilization, and can grow tens of grams a year. Ginseng herbs without fertilization have yellow leaves and do not grow well. However, biochemical fertilizers are not recommended for fertilization, which can cause burning and rotting roots of ginseng herbs. So when applying fertilizer, we should choose the seeds of Perilla or soybean powder, green fertilizer with stamina.

Planting Conditions of Ginseng Herbs

Planting environment

Broad-leaved forests and coniferous-broad-leaved mixed forests mainly composed of oak and linden are generally selected.

Ginseng herbs like cold climate. They can be cultivated under the conditions of annual average temperature of 2.4-13.9 C and annual rainfall of 500-2,000 mm.

The organic matter content in yellow sand, black sand humus soil, loam and sandy loam is more than 3%, the soil pH value is 6.0-6.5, and the volume ratio of water, gas and solid is 1:2:1. The concentration of HCH in soil should not exceed 0.4 mg/kg soil, and the concentration of PCNB should not exceed 0.3 mg/kg soil. The slope is less than 15 degrees. Soil, seeds and seedlings should be disinfected before sowing and transplanting.

Ginseng herbs are neither drought-tolerant nor waterlogging-tolerant, and the relative soil moisture content is better at 70%~80%. Therefore, it is very important to do well in drainage and irrigation.

Requirements for light

Ginseng herb is a negative plant, which requires more strict light. The compensation point of light of ginseng herb is about 400 lux. Illumination increased from 400 to 10,000 lux, and the photosynthetic rate increased in a straight line.

Excessive light, short plants, thick and yellow leaves. Illumination is too weak, the plant is thin and tall, the leaves are thin and dark green, and the growth is abnormal. Therefore, in the cultivation of ginseng herbs, shading should be carried out, the transmittance should be adjusted, the direct light should be avoided, and the scattering light and refraction light should be used.

The optimum light intensity for the growth of ginseng herbs varies with latitude and temperature. The light intensity required for the growth of ginseng herbs varies with latitude, high temperature and low temperature. On the contrary, it is small. The light intensity for the growth of ginseng herbs varies from 7000 to 22 000 lux at high latitude and low temperature, and from 7000 to 10000 lux at high latitude and low latitude.

Ginseng herbs like fertilizer, but they are afraid of non-rotten fertilizer. Joy is organic fertilizer and inorganic fertilizer, fear is the application of uncompleted manure and fertilizer after the lack of soil moisture, resulting in ginseng burning beard rotten roots.

5 Seasons

Spring sowing of ginseng herbs: from mid-April to early May, seeds with accelerated germination were sown. Summer sowing: July-August sowing seeds harvested or stored that year. Soak dry seeds with water for 24 hours before sowing. Autumn sowing: sow germinating seeds from September to freezing time.

Planting methods of potted ginseng herbs

Because of the risk of germination rate, the foam boxes used in the seedling stage of ginseng herb do not immediately buy flowerpots. If we plant seedlings directly in flower pots, we must choose a flowerpot with a diameter of not less than 18 centimeters.

Considering that the air permeability of foam box is much worse than that of pottery flowerpot, put some dry grass into the bottom of the box with holes.

A layer of humus is laid on the grass, and then a thin layer of grass is laid on it. Humus soil can be bought in the flower market, and hay is usually as good as the shop's main points. If nutrient soil is used, hay is not needed, because nutrient soil has good permeability and does not agglomerate. Ordinary loess excavated outside is not recommended. It is not nutritious enough and is very easy to harden and crack.

It is not easy to cause root rot by soaking the seedlings of ginseng herbs in water.

Cover about 5-6 centimeters of humus with thin sand and gently press it flat with your hands. Do not compact it. At this time, some of the magic cats at home found thatch...

Cover with a thin layer of sand, you can start planting ginseng herbal seedlings.

Dig out a long pit which is similar to the shape of ginseng herb seedlings. Put the ginseng herb seedlings in a slightly lower side. The bud head should be in a higher position and the ginseng should be in a lower position. The whole ginseng herb seedlings are obliquely planted at an angle of 30 degrees with a row spacing of about 10 centimeters and a plant spacing of about 20 centimeters.

Cover the prepared ginseng herb seedlings with humus soil about 3 centimeters thick. Be sure not to be too thick. Do not press. Finally, lay a thin layer of sand to help flatten the humus soil and prevent the ginseng seedlings from moving when moving the box. If the humus used is slightly moist, then do not water for three or five days, and then spray appropriate amount of clean water according to the soil conditions to maintain the surface humidity of the sand. Do these well and you can wait for your ginseng seedlings to grow slowly.
